Sandra “Sandy” Kay (Farris) McCartney, 71 of rural Queen City, Missouri passed away at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
The daughter of Floyd Eugene and Ruby Delilah (Sides) Farris, she was born on September 25, 1953 in Shelbyville, Illinois. She attended and graduated from Scotland County High School in Memphis, Missouri with the class of 1971. She was united in marriage to Daran Shafer and to this union one son was born, Slade. Sandy was later united in marriage to Charles McCarty and to this union two children were born, Brock and Chase. On September 12, 2000, she was united in marriage to Charles David McCartney in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she gained a stepdaughter, Erin and a stepson, Matthew.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” David McCartney of rural Queen City, Missouri; sons, Slade Shafer of Grain Valley, Missouri, Brock McCarty of Kirksville, Missouri and Chase McCarty of Kirksville, Missouri; one step-daughter, Erin Kathleen Hilton (Joe) of Columbia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Dexton Shafer, Camden Shafer, Baylee Jones, Madison McCarty, Kinsley McCarty and Nayvee McCarty; two great grandchildren, Kemper and Goldie Jones; siblings, Shirley Figgins of Effingham, Illinois, Jan Blake of Memphis, Missouri and Mike Farris (Cathy) of Kirksville, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Sandy is preceded by her parents; one stepson, Matthew Charles McCartney and one sister, Linda Knupp.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Brad Drummond officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on October 29, 2024 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the McCartney Family Scholarship Fund. Burial will be in the Jimtown Cemetery in rural Queen City, Missouri.
