NATIONAL LEAGUE
WASHINGTON 6 – San Francisco 1… Mackenzie Gore (6-7) pitched four-hit ball over five scoreless innings and the Nationals breezed past the Giants to complete a series sweep. Domonic Smith’s two-run single in the bottom of the first inning provided all the offense Washington needed. Lane Thomas doubled home a run and stole four bases.
CINCINNATI 7 – Arizona 3… Jake Fraley doubled home a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning and the Reds went on to finish off a sweep of the Diamondbacks. Elly De La Cruz homered to lead off the first and Nick Senzel homered with a runner aboard in the second. Christian Encarnacion-Strand went 2-for-3 with a two-run single.
MIAMI 3 – Colorado 2 (10 innings)… Luis Arraez singled home Joey Wendle in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Marlins over the Rockies. Arraez also doubled home Miami’s first run in the sixth and came around to score on Yuli Gurriel’s sacrifice fly.
Atlanta 4 – MILWAUKEE 2… Ozzie Albies belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to power the Braves past the Brewers. Travis d’Arnaud’s second-inning homer opened the scoring.
CHI. CUBS 7 – St. Louis 2… Cody Bellinger hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning and lifted a sacrifice fly in the third to stake the Cubs to an early three run lead and they coasted past the Cardinals. Yan Gomes contributed a two-run double. Jameson Taillon (4-6) allowed a run on seven hits over 5-2/3 innings.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 8 – Kansas City 5… Anthony Rizzo went 4-for-4 with a solo homer and an RBI double as the Yankees finished off a sweep of the Royals. Gleyber Torres’ two-run homer sparked a four-run bottom of the first inning.
Baltimore 5 – TAMPA BAY 3… Ryan O’Hearn led off the top of the sixth inning with a tie-breaking homer and the Orioles held off the Rays to take three of four in the series. Gunnar Henderson homered with a runner aboard in the second.
MINNESOTA 5 – Chi. White Sox 4 (12 innings)… The Twins came alive to force extra innings with a three-run bottom of the ninth inning and outlasted the White Sox. Kyle Farmer lifted a game-tying sacrifice fly in the 10th and scored the winning run on Ryan Jeffers’ two-out single in the 12th.
Houston 3 – OAKLAND 2… Mauricio Dubón connected for a tie-breaking two-out solo homer in the top of the ninth inning and the Astros made it stand in edging the Athletics. Yandy Diaz homered to lead off the fifth for Houston.
Toronto 4 – SEATTLE 3… Santiago Espinal singled home Whit Merrifield with the decisive run in the top of the seventh inning as the Blue Jays eased past the Mariners. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. smacked a two-run homer and Brandon Belt added a solo shot for Toronto.
INTERLEAGUE
DETROIT 3 – San Diego 1… Alex Faedo (2-4) limited the Padres to one hit over six scoreless innings and three Tigers relievers held them off the rest of the way. Solo homers by Spencer Torkelson and Andy Ibáñez staked Detroit to an early lead.
Philadelphia 8 – CLEVELAND 5 (10 innings)… Bryce Harper singled home a tie-breaking run in the top of the 10th inning and the Phillies scored three more times to bury the Guardians. Alex Bohm smacked a two-run single.
TEXAS 8 – L.A. Dodgers 4… The Rangers overcame a grand slam by the Dodgers’ Max Muncy in the top of the first inning to salvage the salvage the series finale. Josh Jung stroked a tie-breaking RBI single to cap a three-run second. Jonah Heim and Leody Taveras lined two-run doubles.
L.A. ANGELS 7 – Pittsburgh 5… Andrew Velazquez and Luis Rengifo hit back-to-back leadoff homers to spark a four-run bottom of the fifth inning that carried the Angels past the Pirates. Rengifo homered again with the bases empty in the sixth. Shohei Ohtani also went deep for L.A.
Boston 6 – N.Y. METS 1… The Red Sox pounded the Mets with a 15-hit attack. Adam Duvall drove in two runs with a single and a double. Rafael Devers went 2-for-3 with a solo homer. Seven Boston pitchers combined to scatter six hits and strike out 10.
