ATLANTA 7 – Arizona 5… Austin Riley’s three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Braves the lead for good in their win over the Diamondbacks. Matt Olson homered twice and knocked in three runs. Orlando Arcia opened the scoring with a solo homer in the sixth.
Milwaukee 4 – PHILADELPHIA 0… Corbin Burnes (9-5) allowed just two hits and struck out 10 over 10 innings before reliever Abner Uribe completed the Brewers’ blanking of the Phillies. Christian Yelich belted a three-run homer in the top of the third inning and William Contreras singled home a run for Milwaukee.
CINCINNATI 5 – San Francisco 1… Andrew Abbott (6-2) limited the Giants to one hit over eight scoreless innings and reliever Derek Law did the rest in the Reds’ win. Luke Maile homered with a runner aboard. Jonathan India and Will Benson both had a couple of hits and an RBI.
St. Louis 7 – CHI. CUBS 2… Steven Matz (1-7) held the Cubs to a run on three hits over five innings and the Cardinals breezed to the victory. Jordan Walker and Paul DeJong hit two-run homers. Nolan Arenado doubled home two runs.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Detroit 3 – KANSAS CITY 0… Tiger starter Michael Lorenzen (6-6) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and got help from two relievers in the blanking of the Royals. Andy Ibáñez and Eric Haase stroked run-scoring singles in the top of the second inning to provide all the scoring Detroit needed.
SEATTLE 5 – Minnesota 0… George Kirby (9-8) tossed four-hit ball and struck out 10 over seven innings before two Mariners relievers shut the door on the Twins. Teoscar Hernández singled home the game’s first run in the bottom of the first inning and homered to lead off he fourth. Mike Ford added a two-run homer in the eighth.
Baltimore 4 – TAMPA BAY 3 (10 innings)… Colton Cowser’s sacrifice fly scored Aaron Hicks with a tie-breaking run in the top of the 10th inning and the Orioles made it stand in outlasting the Rays. Adley Rutschman’s RBI single sparked a three-run third for Baltimore.
Houston 3 – OAKLAND 1… Kyle Tucker lined a go-ahead two-run double in the top of the sixth inning, Alex Bregman homered in the ninth and the Astros clipped the Athletics. Houston starter J.P. France (5-3) allowed a run on five hits over seven innings in outdueling counterpart Hogan Harris (2-4).
INTERLEAGUE
TORONTO 4 – San Diego 0… Chris Bassitt (10-5) held the Padres to four hits over six innings and got help from three Blue Jays relievers in the shutout. Alejandro Kirk homered with a runner aboard and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added a solo shot for Toronto.
Chi. White Sox 6 – N.Y. METS 2… Yasmani Grandal stroked a two-run double and scored on Elvis Andrus’ triple during a four-run top of the sixth inning that carried the White Sox past the Mets. Michael Kopech (4-8) surrendered a run on two hits over 5-2/3 innings.
