NATIONAL LEAGUE
San Francisco 11 – ST. LOUIS 3… Michael Conforto banged out four hits and drove in three runs to lead the Giants in their thrashing of the Cardinals. Mike Yastrzemski hit a two-run homer. Patrick Bailey homered and singled home a run.
CHI. CUBS 11 – Pittsburgh 3… Ian Happ and Brent Morel belted three-run homers and the Cubs buried the Pirates. Matt Mervis singled home a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jameson Taillon (2-4) allowed three runs on six hits over six innings.
Philadelphia 15 – ARIZONA 3… Kyle Schwarber homered to lead off the game and the Phillies scored three more times in the top of the first inning on their way to battering the Diamondbacks. Bryson Stott homered and singled home a run. Nick Castellanos knocked in three runs with a single and a double. Bryce Harper capped the 20-hit barrage with a two-run double.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 11 – Toronto 6… Ryan O’Hearn homered with a runner aboard and Gunnar Henderson unloaded a grand slam during a six-run bottom of the third inning and the Orioles never looked back in their pounding of the Blue Jays. Adam Frazier hit a two-run homer and Aaron Hicks added a solo shot for Baltimore.
L.A. Angels 7 – TEXAS 3… Hunter Renfroe connected for a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning and Zach Neto added a two-run shot in the ninth to power the Angels past the Rangers. Brandon Drury had a couple of hits, including an RBI single.
OAKLAND 2 – Tampa Bay 1… Pinch-hitter Carlos Perez came through with a tie-breaking run-scoring grounder in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Athletics made it stand in squeaking out a win over the Rays. Brent Rooker doubled home Jace Peterson with a tying run in the seventh. Hogan Harris (1-0) came on in the second inning and gave up just a run on four hits over seven innings of relief.
INTERLEAGUE
Colorado 7 – BOSTON 6 (10 innings)… Randal Grichuk stroked a two-run double and scored on Jurickson Profar’s single in the top of the 10th inning as the Rockies outlasted off the Red Sox. Elías Diaz opened the scoring with a bases-clearing double in the third.
N.Y. Yankees 7 – N.Y. METS 6… Josh Donaldson’s sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning scored Billy McKinney with a tie-breaking run and the Yankees held on the edge the Mets. DJ LeMahieu hit a two-run homer and Jake Bauers lined a two-run single.
MINNESOTA 7 – Milwaukee 5… Carlos Correa’s two-run homer capped a four-run bottom of the ninth inning and gave the Twins a walkoff win over the Brewers. Michael A. Taylor’s leadoff homer sparked the uprising. Kyle Farmer homered to lead off the seventh.
Cincinnati 5 – KANSAS CITY 4… Spencer Fairchild raced home on a wild pitch with what proved to be the decisive run as the Reds scored all five runs in the top of the second inning and held off the Royals. Brandon Williamson (1-0) gave up three runs on seven hits over five innings in recording his first major league win.
HOUSTON 6 – Washington 1… Hunter Brown (6-3) pitched four-hit ball over seven scoreless innings and the Astros breezed past the Nationals. Mauricio Dubón, Kyle Tucker, Martin Maldonado and Chas McCormick all hit solo homers.
SAN DIEGO 6 – Cleveland 3… Gary Sánchez cracked a three-run homer to cap a four-run bottom of the first inning and the Padres never looked back in doubling up on the Guardians. Fernando Tatis Jr. added a solo blast. Xavier Bogaerts lifted a sacrifice fly and doubled home a run. Joe Musgrove (4-2) allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings.
SEATTLE 9 – Miami 3… George Kirby (6-5) surrendered just three hits and struck out 10 over six innings as the Mariners cruised past the Marlins. Cal Raleigh got things going with a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. Mike Ford homered twice and drove in three runs.
L.A. DODGERS 5 – Chi. White Sox 1… Tony Gonsolin (4-1) pitched two-hit ball over six scoreless innings and got help from two relievers as the Dodgers eased past the White Sox. Will Smith and David Peralta hit two-run homers during a four-run bottom of the first inning.
Atlanta – DETROIT (ppd)… Rain in Detroit forced postponement of last night’s Braves-Tigers game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.
