Dorothy “Dottie” Hitchcock, 64 of Armstrong, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 5th, 2022, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Dorothy was born on May 17th 1958 in Chaves County, New Mexico, to William Herbert Hitchcock Jr. And Betty Lucille Prather Hitchcock. She attended Highland High School. She continued her education at Southeastern Community College studying to teach Childrens literature. Dorothy strongly believed in being home to raise her 5 children and spent most of her early life at home with them. She dedicated her life and her love to caring for her children, especially her youngest Tessy, who was the light of her life.
Dorothy was a woman of numerous talents and abilities. Among many she was a gifted artist, writer and cook. There is nothing she attempted that she did not excel at.
Dorothy is survived by longtime partner Larry Inskip of Armstrong, Missouri, her children; Jason Winfield of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Kerri Kirkpatrick of Coatsburg, Illinois, Robert Altheide of Keota, Iowa, Candice and David Wesbecher of Ursa, Illinois, and Terissa Altheide of Fayette, Missouri; a sister, Linda and Scott Walton of Quincy, Illinois; two brothers, Melvin and Amandy Harvey of Versailles, Illinois and Eric Harvey of Knox City, Missouri; an uncle, Hillis and Jo Ann Prather of Eudora, Kansas; grandchildren; Harley, Hailey, Hunter and Hudsten Winfield, Valerie and Desmond Jarvis, Grace and Kyle Burns, Chevelle and Hero Kirkpatrick, Lexi Snow, Robert, Raiden and Ruby Altheide, Brittney and Tyler Higdon, Roscoe Toolate, and Ariana Wesbecher; great grandchildren Ibanez Jarvis, Sebastion Kirkpatrick, Oliver Burns, Bentley, Paxton, and Lainey Higdon, along with numerous nieces , nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, Bill Hitchcock Jr. And Betty Drage; and a brother, Bill Hitchcock.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29th 2022 at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with Pastor Doug Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends just before the services at the funeral home.
