NATIONAL LEAGUE
Pittsburgh 5 – MIAMI 1… Mitch Keller (3-6) held the Marlins to a run on five hits over seven innings and the Pirates cruised to the win. Jake Marisnick had a couple of hits, including a two-run homer, and scored two runs. Diego Castillo stroked a two-run single.
ST. LOUIS 6 – Philadelphia 1… Miles Mikolas (6-7) surrendered a run on six hits over 7-1/3 innings and the Cardinals handled the Phillies. Corey Dickerson singled home a run and drilled a two-run homer. Lars Nootbaar also went deep.
N.Y. Mets 4 – ATLANTA 1… Max Scherzer (6-1) allowed just a run on three hits over seven innings as the Mets topped the Braves. Luis Guillorme had a couple of hits, including a solo homer, and knocked in two runs.
San Diego 6 – COLORADO 5… C.J. Abrams cracked a three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to give the Padres a 6-2 lead and they hung on to edge the Rockies. Jake Cronenworth went 3-for-4 with a solo homer. Manny Machado also went deep. Sean Manaea (4-4) allowed two runs on five hits over 6-1/3 innings.
Arizona 4 – SAN FRANCISCO 3… Daulton Varsho’s two-run single capped a three-run top of the third inning and pinch-hitter Sergio Alcántara’s RBI single in the eighth proved to be the difference as the Diamondbacks held off the Giants. Merrill Kelly (8-5) gave up two runs on five hits over seven innings.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
KANSAS CITY 3 – Detroit 1… Brad Keller (5-9) held the Tigers to a run on three hits over seven innings and the Royals took the opener of a doubleheader. Vinnie Pasquantino homered and singled home a tie-breaking run for Kansas City.
KANSAS CITY 7 – Detroit 3… Bobby Witt, Jr., went 4-for-5 and knocked in three runs as the Royals completed a sweep of the twinbill. Ryan O’Hearn lined a two-run single.
TAMPA BAY 10 – Boston 5… Yandy Diaz went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored in leading the Rays past the Red Sox. Harold Ramirez and Josh Lowe added two RBIs apiece.
CLEVELAND 8 – Chi. White Sox 4… Nolan Jones and Myles Straw stroked two-run singles during a five-run bottom of the first inning and the Guardians coasted past the White Sox. Jones added a two-run double and scored on Straw’s single during a three-run fifth.
TEXAS 10 – Oakland 8… The Rangers built a 10-2 lead after seven innings and hung on to top the Athletics. Leody Taveras went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Josh Smith lifted a sacrifice fly and homered with a runner aboard. Corey Seager smacked his 20th homer with the bases empty.
