Dora (Klinginsmith) King, 92 of Green City, Missouri died October 10, 2021 at the Putnam County Care Center.
Dora Klinginsmith was born in Powersville, Missouri to Jesse Jacob and Emma (Newell) Klinginsmith, the second of five children. Dora attended school in Lucerne and Unionville before attending Cosmetology College in Kirksville, Missouri. After completing her graduation, she moved to Green City where she and her good friend Marguerite Singley operated the Curle Shoppe for several years.
It was in Green City that she met George King. They were married January 15, 1956 and made their home on the D. C. Myers farmstead. It was there the couple had two daughters, Sheila (Robert) Drew and Denise (Keith) Fernandez. They later moved into Green City when they purchased and renovated their home on North Sherman Street.
In addition to working beside her husband on the farm, raising their gardens and their daughters she worked for years at the Banquet Foods and ConAgra Foods companies in Milan, Missouri. After her retirement, Dora enjoyed spending time with her family. She traveled with family to Washington and Arizona.
Dora had a special relationship with her granddaughter Emma. She was especially proud to watch her graduate from high school and go on to achieve her goal of completing her Bachelors and Masters degrees and begin her career.
In retirement, she remained active working with her church, the American Legion Auxiliary, delivering Meals-On-Wheels and working with the Community Betterment Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband George. Dora was also preceded in death by two brothers: Jesse Lee Klinginsmith of Unionville, Missouri and Neal Klinginsmith of Longview, Washington. She is survived by her two daughters, Sheila (Robert) Drew of Prescott, Arizona and Denise (Keith) Fernandez of Columbia, Missouri, one granddaughter who was the light of her life, Emma Fernandez of Columbia, Missouri, one sister, Barbara Morris of Kansas City, Missouri and one brother Arthur Klinginsmith of Benton City, Washington and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Dora will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, October, 14, 2021 at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Legion Auxiliary Unit, Community Betterment Association, or Meals on Wheels.
