John Maher, Jr., 72, of Unionville, Missouri, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
John Thomas Maher, Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan, on October 6, 1947, the son of John Thomas Maher, Sr. and Sarah Jane Hariman, who preceded him in death. He was reared in Detroit and after high school he served in the United States Army, doing a tour in Vietnam. After his Honorable Discharge, John moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he began a life-long career as a stationary engineer in the healthcare industry, working in hospitals in the Chicago area. He kept the infrastructure of those hospitals in functioning condition. John married Judith Hankins in Chicago on December 16, 1995, and she survives at home. He retired from a hospital in Glenbrook, Illinois, in 2010. He and Judith moved to Unionville, Missouri, that same year. John liked to play the guitar, mostly for his own amusement, and he and Judith shared a real fondness for dogs.
John’s body will be cremated with inurnment at a later date. No services are planned at this time.
