Lorene Coffman Grindstaff Molloy

Lorene Coffman Grindstaff Molloy, 95, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025 while a resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, Missouri.

Lorene, and her twin, Morene, were born to Andy and Elizabeth Coffman on December 30, 1929, joining 12 other siblings. The Coffman Family grew up around the Milan area where Lorene graduated from Milan High School. At the age of 21, Lorene married Ora Wallace Grindstaff on December 26, 1952, and later gave birth to Reggie and Rodney Grindstaff. In 1994 Lorene married John Molloy and lived in the Humphrey’s area until John’s passing in 2005. Lorene then moved back to the Galt area for several years before becoming a resident of Sunnyview Nursing Home.

Lorene loved to play cards, visit with her friends and family, and cherished the role of grandma. She was known for many great culinary delights, including her noodles, biscuits and gravy, and peanut butter candy. Lorene loved having a twin sister and would tell stories about the fun they had, including promenading around the town square. Lorene had beautiful blue eyes and took great pride in the fact she never had to dye her hair. Her hobbies included word search puzzles and crocheting prize-winning afghans.

Lorene is survived by her youngest son, Rodney (Michelle) Grindstaff of Garden City, Missouri, her daughter-in-law, Jolene Grindstaff of Galt, Missouri, four grandchildren: Jason Grindstaff (Amanda), Tony Grindstaff, Megan Grindstaff (Tom Strohkirch), and Trevor Grindstaff, and two great grandchildren: Dahlila Strohkirch and Jazlyn Grindstaff.

Lorene is preceded in death by Ora Grindstaff (husband), John Molloy (husband), Reggie Grindstaff (son), and 12 siblings: Louise Crump, Opal Judd, James Coffman, Juanita Hagan, Onita White, Goldie Bradley, Carl Coffman, Jerrold “Jiggs” Coffman, Raymond Coffman, Bobby Coffman, Murl Coffman, and her twin, Morene Lumsden.

Funeral services for Lorene will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. Burial will follow at Thomas Union Cemetery, Northwest of Milan. A visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the service, starting at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home for the Lorene Molloy Lunch Fund Memorial, which has been created to provide financial relief for school supplies and unpaid lunch balances in rural Grundy County school districts.

Lorene was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community in Galt and Humphreys, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
