Jerry Lee Brown, 88, Newtown, Missouri, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on October 31, 1936, at home on the farm near Ravanna, MO to John William and Effie Blanche (Lowry) Brown. Jerry would spend his entire life in the Newtown area. He attended Center Grove School and graduated from Newtown High School, class of 1954.
On July 22, 1956, he married the love of his life, Rachel Dickson. They spent their married life raising their children, working on the family farm, traveling the US, and square dancing. He also served on the Housing Board in Newtown and the Sullivan Co Extension Counsel. Jerry was a dedicated family man and enjoyed getting together for family dinners and Sunday church service.
Survivors include his wife, Rachel, their 3 children: David (Jodi) Brown of Newtown, Brenda (Steve) Embree of Crowley, TX, and Lori (Tom) Tucker of Newtown. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored: Christine Smith, Megan (Chris) McBane, Aaron (Hailey) Brown, Clint Embree, Holly (Ryan) Pugh, Heather Michaelis, and Trevor (Haley) Tucker; step grandchildren: Robert (Misty) Foster and Mikkie (Phillip) Richardson; 15 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, and 4 step great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ann (Larry) Morley of Columbia, MO, and 2 cousins, Gary (Audrey) Brown and Betty Dickenson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry spent his entire life working on the farm. He spent many years pouring blood, sweat, and tears into the successful operation, leaving behind a legacy for his children and grandchildren. He served as a Deacon and Elder of the Newtown Christian Church for many years. He dedicated his life at a young age to the Lord and was prepared to make heaven his final home.
A funeral service for Jerry will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Newtown Christian Church in Newtown, Missouri. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the church. Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan is handling the arrangements.
