“Make sure they know I had a good life.” That was her wish. Laura Rachel Casey passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at Manor Care in Kirksville, Missouri.
She was born on March 23, 1935 in Pure Air, near Novinger, Missouri to Grover and Ruth Jones. She had a memorable Christmas Eve in 1953 when she married Donald Lee Casey. Laura Rachel loved caring for people. That was shown in many ways. Cooking, cleaning, moving, watching kids, or spending time with someone. If cleaning is hobby, that was her hobby and she was good at it. She also loved camping, cooking, dancing, and being with friends and family.
Laura Rachel is survived by her brother Bob Jones (Sharen) of Kirksville, children Beth Hudson and Roger Casey (Leonna) both of Kirksville. Grandchildren Bevan Flynn and Brad Hudson (Stacie) of Kirksville and Rachel Casey of Ashland and Jarred Casey of Columbia. Great Grandchildren Keaton Flynn, Keegan Flynn, Kaden Flynn, Laura Hudson, Lillian Hudson, Lee Hudson and Georgia Zimny. One Great Great Granddaughter, Octavia Flynn.
Laura Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Ruth Jones and her husband, Donald Lee Casey. Her brother, Darrel Jones (Dorothy) and sisters, Ramah Stanek (Stanley), Louise Douglas-Burress (Wilford Douglas, Bill Burress), and Clara Dee Daniels (Don “Pink”) and Son-in-law Bill Hudson.
She received her high school diploma from Novinger High School. She worked at the McGraw-Edison Factory and Hollister as well as Manor Care in Kirksville before retiring.
Pallbearers are Jarred Casey, Keaton Flynn, Kaden Flynn, David Novinger, Jonathan Novinger and Danny Daniels. Honorary Pallbearers are David Daniels, Lee Hudson, James Alter, Jesse Alter and Jon Zimny.
Public visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 with family receiving friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor’s Virgil Jones and Brad Hudson presiding. Music selections “Amazing Grace” and “Dancing in the Sky” will be provided by Barbara Daniels and Laura Hudson. Internment will follow the service at the Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.
