Merrick James Hoy, 14, of Milan, Missouri, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Merrick was born on January 6, 2011, to Paul and Christina (Rouse) Hoy who survive of the home. Also surviving is a sister; Willow Hoy of the home, grandparents; Darlene Cavallero of Marceline, Missouri and Evelyn Rouse of Unionville, Missouri, uncles and aunts; Nate (Whitney) Hoy of Alabama, Brian (Stephanie) Gonzales of Idaho, Andrea (Steven) Hill of Milan, Rebecca (Mike) Ridenour of Georgia and Jamie (Jacob) Bivens of Brookfield, several cousins; Sierra, Elizabeth, Ethan, Elijah, Dominic, Parker, McKenna, Lily, Madison, Montana, Violet and William, and several great aunts and uncles. He was preceded by his grandfather, Ira Rouse and his maternal and paternal great grandparents.
Merrick grew up in Milan and was very active in school. He was a member of the band and quiz bowl. He loved to play sports and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved to game and wanted to be a professional gamer when he grew up. Merrick was a smart and wonderful kid and was an amazing big brother to his little sister Willow. He was extremely loved by his family.
A funeral service for Merrick will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions are suggested to go to the family or the funeral home.
