Jackie Lee Young, 74, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Milan, Missouri.
Jackie was born July 28, 1950 in Kirksville to Harold Glen and Neva Marie (Clay) Young, they preceded him in death. He was also preceded by: Two brothers, Darold Young and Joe Young and a sister, Phyllis Anderwald.
Jackie is survived by: His brother and sister, Harold and wife Kathy Young of West Des Moines, Iowa and Glendetta and husband Jack Sizemore of Green Castle, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, Bernice Loyd of Kirksville; and a sister-in-law, Violet Young of Green City.
Jackie grew up in Green Castle before moving to Kirksville. He spent time working at the Shelter Workshop, and was in the special Olympics for bowling. He attended the Kirksville First Church of God every Sunday for many years. Jackie enjoyed doing crafts, listening to music, fishing, and going for rides to look at the lake. He liked Horses, and his cat, Sally. Jackie most loved spending time with his family, at reunions or just talking on the phone. He didn’t know a stranger, and shook everyone’s hand.
Funeral services for Jackie will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 15. 2025 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Burial will follow at Overstreet Cemetery, North of Green Castle. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
