NATIONAL LEAGUE…
Chi. Cubs 10 – ST. LOUIS 3… Yan Gomes drove in three runs with a single and a double as the Cubs cruised past the Cardinals. Mike Tauchman hit a solo homer and singled home a run. Christopher Morel went 3-for-4 with a two-run double and three runs scored.

N.Y. METS 2 – Washington 1… Mark Canha lifted a tie-breaking sacrifice fly following a 97-minute rain delay in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Mets hung on to edge the Nationals. Daniel Vogelbach’s RBI single tied the game ahead of the delay.

AMERICAN LEAGUE…
L.A. Angels 6 – DETROIT 0… Angel starter Shohei Ohtani (9-5) allowed just a fifth-inning Kerry Carpenter single in his first major league shutout and the Angels breezed past the Tigers in the doubleheader opener. Taylor Ward drove in three runs with a pair of homers. Trey Cabbage knocked in L.A.’s other three runs with a two-run single and a sacrifice fly.

L.A. Angels 11 – DETROIT 4… Shohei Ohtani smacked a two-run homer to cap a five-run top of the second inning and added a solo shot in the fourth as the Angels pounded the Tigers to complete a sweep of the twinbill. Hunter Renfroe homered and singled home a run. Eduardo Escobar also went deep. Luis Rengifo legged out a two-run triple and Matt Thaiss singled home two runs for L.A.

Cleveland 6 – CHI. WHITE SOX 3… Josh Naylor drove in three runs with a pair of doubles to lead the Guardians past the White Sox. Andrés Giménez, Will Brennan and Bo Naylor each had a couple of hits and an RBI. Tanner Bibee (7-2) allowed three runs on six hits over 6-2/3 innings.
