NATIONAL LEAGUE
ST. LOUIS 7 – Chi. Cubs 5… The Cardinals overcame an early four-run deficit to down the Cubs. Paul Goldschmidt singled home a go-ahead run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brandon Donovan stroked a two-run single.
PHILADELPHIA 7 – N.Y. Mets 6… The Phillies came up with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to upend the Mets. The runs were produced by an infield grounder, a bases-loaded walk and two bases-loaded hit-by-pitches. Trea Turner homered and singled home a run for Washington.
Atlanta 7 – CINCINNATI 6… Matt Olson belted a tie-breaking three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and Marcell Ozuna drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the go-ahead run in the eighth to push the Braves past the Reds. Ozuna and Sean Murphy produced run-scoring singles for Atlanta.
MIAMI 2 – Pittsburgh 0… Eury Pérez (5-1) pitched four-hit ball over six innings and three Marlins relievers completed the shutout of the Pirates. Jonathan Davis’ homer to lead off the bottom of the third inning provided the only run Miami needed.
Arizona 5 – SAN FRANCISCO 2… Ryne Nelson (4-4) allowed just a run on three hits over seven innings and the Diamondbacks eased past the Giants. Ketel Marte homered with a runner aboard in the top of the eighth inning and Geraldo Perdomo singled home a run in the ninth.
Washington 8 – SAN DIEGO 3… The Nationals buried the Padres with a five-run top of the seventh inning. Joey Menesez and Jeimer Candelario cracked two-run doubles. Candelario also homered with the bases empty in the first. Mackenzie Gore (4-6) surrendered a run on five hits over five innings.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Minnesota 6 – DETROIT 3 (10 innings)… Royce Lewis, Willi Castro and Christian Vásquez came through with RBI singles in the top of the 10th inning as the Twins put away the Tigers. Donovan Solano opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the third.
BALTIMORE 3 – Seattle 2… The Orioles fought their way past the Mariners after spotting them an early two-run lead. Anthony Santander slugged a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the third inning. Jorge Mateo’s unearned run in the fifth proved to be the difference.
N.Y. YANKEES 5 – Texas 3… The Yankees came from three runs down to upend the Rangers. Harrison Bader smacked a go-ahead two-run double and scored on Giancarlo Stanton’s single in the bottom of the eighth inning. DJ LeMahieu doubled home two runs in the second.
TORONTO 12 – Oakland 1… George Springer homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning and spark the Blue Jays to a rout of the Athletics. Cavan Biggio’s three-run homer capped the scoring. Santiago Espinal contributed a two-run double. Yusei Kikuchi (12-1) allowed just a run on two hits over seven innings.
TAMPA BAY 3 – Kansas City 1… Jose Siri homered to lead off the bottom of the third inning and scored a go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the seventh as the Rays clipped the Royals. Tampa Bay starter Tyler Glasnow limited Kansas City to a run on four hits and struck out 12 over five innings.
CHI. WHITE SOX 4 – Boston 1… Luis Robert Jr. hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and homered again to lead off the sixth in powering the White Sox past the Red Sox. Jesse Scholtens (1-2) threw four shutout innings to get the win in relief.
INTERLEAGUE
Milwaukee 5 – CLEVELAND 4… The Brewers recovered to outlast the Guardians after blowing a three-run lead. Owen Miller’s second RBI double of the game scored Joey Wiemer with a tie-breaking run in the top of the 10th inning. Christian Yelich had a couple of hits, including a run-scoring double.
COLORADO 4 – L.A. Angels 3… Ezequiel Tovar’s solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning gave the Rockies a three-run lead and his seventh-inning RBI single proved to be decisive as the Rockies held off the Angels. Austin Gomber (5-7) gave up two runs on five hits over five innings.
Houston – L.A. DODGERS – Houston (11 innings)… The Astros outlasted the Dodgers after blowing a three-run eighth-inning lead. Alex Bregman singled home Mauricio Dubón with a tie-breaking run in the top of the 11th inning after both teams scored single runs in the 10th. Jeremy Peña and Jose Abreu hit two-run homers for Houston.
