NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia 5 – ARIZONA 4 … Kyle Schwarber doubled home a tying run and scored the decisive run on Bryce Harper’s single in the top of the fourth inning as the Phillies held off the Diamondbacks. Bryson Stott homered to lead off the second for Philadelphia.
ATLANTA 8 – Colorado 3… Kevin Pillar doubled home two runs and Ozzie Albies added a bases-clearing double during a five-run bottom of the second inning and the Braves coasted past the Rockies. Matt Olson homered with the bases empty.
CHI. CUBS 7 – Pittsburgh 2… Cubs starter Marcus Stroman (8-4) held the Pirates to two runs on four hits over six innings in winning his sixth straight start. Ian Happ drove in two runs with a single and a double. Christopher Morel also knocked in two runs.
AMERICAN LEAGUE
BALTIMORE 4 – Toronto 2… Austin Hays scored a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the sixth inning on Anthony Santander’s single and homered in the eighth to push the Orioles past the Blue Jays. Adley Rutschman also went deep for Baltimore. Tyler Wells (6-2) allowed two runs on five hits over 6-2/3 innings.
Tampa Bay 4 – OAKLAND 3… Luke Raley connected for a tie-breaking solo homer in the top of the eighth inning and the Rays hung on to edge the Athletics and claim a split of the four-game series. Manuel Margot also homered with the bases empty for Tampa Bay.
Detroit 8 – MINNESOTA 4… The Tigers came from three runs down to double up on the Twins. Eric Haase’s infield grounder brought home a tie-breaking run in the top of the fifth inning. Spencer Torkelson doubled home two runs and scored on Zack Short’s double in the ninth.
L.A. Angels 5 – TEXAS 3… Shohei Ohtani (6-2) held the Rangers to two runs on six hits over six innings and smacked his 22nd homer with a runner aboard in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Angels. Mickey Moniak hit a tie-breaking homer to lead off the seventh. Chad Wallach also homered.
INTERLEAGUE
Washington 4 – HOUSTON 1 (10 innings)… The Nationals outlasted the Astros in a contest that was scoreless through eight innings. Keibert Ruiz opened the scoring with a homer to lead off the top of the ninth inning before he and Lane Thomas delivered RBI singles during a three-run 10th. The game featured a duel between Washington starter Mackenzie Gore and his counterpart Cristian Javier, but neither got a decision.
Cleveland 8 – SAN DIEGO 6… Josh Naylor produced a two-run single and David Fry belted a three-run homer in the top of the first inning to stake the Guardians to an early five-run lead and they went on to top the Padres. Jose Ramírez drove in two runs with a single and a double.
L.A. DODGERS 5 – Chi. White Sox 4 (11 innings)… Chris Taylor unloaded a game-tying grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning and scored the winning run in the 11th on Freddie Freeman’s single as the Dodgers downed the White Sox. Chicago’s runs came on solo homers by Luis Robert, Jr., Eloy Jiménez, Jake Burger and Andrew Vaughn.
