Daisy Marie Blaine, 97, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on October 2nd, 2021.
Daisy Blaine was born in Scotland County, Missouri on January 5th, 1924, the daughter of Eddie Lee and Rebecca Jane (Garrett) Anders. Daisy married Ellis Blaine in Lancaster, Missouri, on June 30, 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1987. Daisy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Turner, sisters, Violet Aldridge and Ruby Lewis, and a brother, Floyd Anders.
Daisy is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Darnel of Unionville, Missouri, and Debbie Van Genderen and husband Dan of Lucerne, Missouri. Surviving grandchildren include Steven Turner, Shelly (Scott) Long, Teresa (Clint) Bissey, Justin (Brittney) Van Genderen, Ryan (Emily) Van Genderen, Stephanie (Jacob) Twenter, Misty Clapham, Kristy (James) Blanchard, and Jerod (Lisa) Van Genderen. Daisy is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, one of whom holds her name, Daisy Sue Turner. A sister, Anna Fern Halverson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Daisy worked as a cook at local restaurants in Lancaster for a spell, but mainly was a farmer’s wife. Together they milked cows, gardened, tended sheep and pigs, and sold eggs from their chickens. Daisy’s “egg money” was known to Ellis as the emergency fund. Daisy was also a gifted quilter, seamstress, and crocheter. They were members of the Christian Church. She took care of numerous elderly neighbors so they could stay in their homes. Daisy cherished spending time with children, grandchildren, and family and was always supportive and willing to help whenever needed. She never met a stranger and had many friends. She always had a smile and encouraging word for others.
Funeral services for Daisy Blaine will be at the Brashear Community Bible Church in Brashear, Missouri, at 11:00 am Saturday, October 9, 2021. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Brashear Cemetery.
